Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets to secure a 3 ODIs series win

Karachi: Fakhar Zaman, Abid Ali and Haris Sohail struck half centuries as Pakistan outplayed the visiting Sri Lankan side by 5 wickets winning the series 2-0. Sri Lankan skipper Lahiru Thirimanna won the toss and elected to bat first in the final ODI in National Stadium Karachi. Opener Gunathilaka played a firing knock of 133 off 134 balls with 16 boundaries and a six. Dasun Shanaka was the other man who once again showed his class and talent down the order scoring 43 runs. The Sri Lankan captain Thirimanna and wicketkeeper Bhanuka were the other successful batsmen scoring 35 runs each. Mohammad Amir claimed 3 wicket conceding 52 runs. In reply, the hosts were off to a flyer. Both openers Fakhar Zaman and Abid Ali gave Pakistan a punishing start. An opening stand of 123 runs put Pakistan on a comfortable place as they have had a poor record of chasing 275+ runs in the last 22 games and remaining victorious in just a single match. Abid Ali who came in replacement of injured Imam ul Haq looked impressive with his 74 before he was trapped leg before by de silva. Fakhar Zaman smashed 76 off 91 balls hitting 7 boundaries and a six. Babar Azam contributed with his 31 runs and skipped Sarfaraz Ahmed gave his wicket away when his side was 84 runs behind the victory mark. Haris Sohail took control of the game in a difficult situation and played another fine innings of 56 runs. He was eqaually supported by 34 years old Iftikhar Ahmed. Ahmed got Pakistan home hitting asix and a boundary on successive delievries in the 48th Overs. Abid Ali was declared Man of the Match whereas Babar Azam got the Man of Series award.
